The sensational Hypnotic Room – Special Edition does it again!
After previously snaring the mixing talents of Si Begg, Mijk van Dijk, Jammin’Unit and Shin Nishimura, this time it’s the turn of none other than DJ Wada, a.k.a. Tokyo’s Shuji Wada, one half of the brilliant Co-Fusion combo, and quite possibly Japan’s most respected, in-demand DJ/producer.
Caught in DJ Wada’s crossfire mixing is ‘Alone Together’, by fellow Japanese producer Takashi Watanabe, one of the true discoveries of 2008 and a man destined for great things himself this year.
Wada’s mix socked this veteran scribe’s jaw in several places; the sound is devastatingly assured, sublimely original tech/electro with a sci-fi flourish. It brews in restrained, edgy bliss, guaranteed to sizzle any packed club, from Tokyo to Sydney.
Watanabe reasserts his own impressive credentials with the minimal mix on the virtual flipside: think superbly-structured, restrained Detroit-style house with a Japanese twist, as only Takashi seems capable of producing.
Styles: Techno, Minimal.
Absolutely love it!
