V1NZ got his start in New York City. Outlaw parties held in warehouses and parks along with events at Roseland Ballroom quickly turned his interest from bands such as Sonic Youth and Nine Inch Nails, to Jeff Mills, Surgeon, and other pioneers in the techno scene. It was only natural that when he left for college his guitar was traded for a Roland R70. While at university he continued to attend underground parties while incessantly programming new beats on his drum machine.
V1NZ next moved to New Hampshire where he was surprised to discover that a growing number of people were sadly associating electronic music with commercials for their new favorite soda. However, a proper underground dance music scene lay just a few hours north in Montreal; and by attending afterhours events at Sona, ARIA, and Circus, he was able to satiate his growing appetite for true electronic dance music. The trips to Montreal would have a major impact on his sound.
By giving a slight nod to the ‘old school’ proper techno vibe with a maddening rickshaw ride of percussion V1NZ was able to push for a new ideal with absurd cries to melody. This formula has lead to several releases in the last year including an EP on Steve Stoll’s label Proper NYC!
